Bio

Aída Guhlincozzi is an Assistant Professor in Geography and Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Missouri, focusing her research on feminist and qualitative GIS approaches to geography and its application and praxis by a diversity of practitioners. Her recent work has focused on developing geography coursework applicable and of interest to students traditionally minoritized in Geography and higher education. This includes the design and implementation of a camp focused on teaching the Geosciences to middle school girls in 2019 and addressing structural issues in the academy with creating a supportive learning environment. She has designed and analyzed survey results of student interest and knowledge in the geosciences and created multiple activities to the effect of raising student interest in Geography. Her work also focuses on vulnerable populations and their access to healthcare.

Research

Research interests include health geography, health GIS, and race, ethnicity, language, and gender and health care.
