Layered: History, Women’s Spaces, and the Memorialization of Read Hall

-
Memorial Student Union Room N204, University of Missouri

Read Hall, the first women’s dormitory at the University of Missouri, was demolished in 2022 as part of a broader campus redevelopment project. This talk explores the history, meaning, and lasting significance of Read Hall, highlighting the perspectives of multiple generations of MU students. Layered honored Read Hall’s legacy through three interconnected artistic forms: a risograph-printed zine, a projection mapping installation, and a virtual reality experience. This talk brings together diverse disciplines to reflect on the past and imagine the future of women’s spaces on campus.
